Spooky Season is Here!

Oct 6
6 min read

It's already October! Can you believe it? It seems that we were just celebrating July 4th, and fast forward 2 days and here we are! I absolutely LOVE this time of year and if social media is to be believed (that's still debatable), so many people do too! People love this time of year for so many different reasons, but my belief is because it holds a sense of nostalgia that isn't found any other time of year. There are memories tied up in the Halloween to holiday season. Things we did as kids, we are now sharing with our children and grandchildren. It's fun remembering when during these times, which leads to longing for days gone by. Because let's face it...NOTHING is the same anymore. Our best days might be behind us, but I'd personally like to think they still lie ahead too as long as there is hope.

This is a busy time of year for most everyone I know, myself included. Add in a writing career, and it ups the ante big time! But I wouldn't have it any other way! I normally put out my monthly newsletter before the beginning of each month, but I have so many exciting things coming up, I just couldn't wait to share with you!

So let's dive in shall we!

I have heard your requests and read your comments and emails & the one question I get more than any other: When is the next book in the Oakmont Series going to be out? I don't believe in making readers wait 1-2 years before the next book in the series is out and well, it's almost here! I can't believe it!

FINDING GRACE IS OUT ON 10.13.2026!!

This is Book Three in the Oakmont Series, and as mentioned before this is my favorite book of the series thus far. I've lived with these characters for quite a long time. By now, they feel like old, familiar friends. But I think in FINDING GRACE, readers are really going to feel like they are part of the story in ways like never before.

In this book, I tried to capture all the feelings that Fall invokes in people. There's Halloween and Thanksgiving scenes that feel as real as anything we've ever experienced. As great as that is, FINDING GRACE is the next chapter in Brad & Carrie's love story. But it's so much more than a love story. Brad, Carrie, Gracie, and the other players in the story move forward navigating this new normal that they find themselves faced with. Not only that, but each of them are also wrestling with their pasts in various ways where they are faced with life-changing decisions like never before. There is suspense (but not at the same level as SAVING GRACE), but just enough to make readers ask when are these characters going to catch a break.

Recently, a reader left a review for another one of my novels (SONG OF THE HOLLER) that said she felt like she was right there in the story with the characters. That was one of the highest compliments I have ever received as a writer. To me, that is bigger than any 5-star review I have received (and I have received many). For a reader to feel that way, means the story is everything I hoped it would be. I get so attached to my characters that in this fictional world they do seem real. FINDING GRACE is that kind of story. Readers will be pulled in from the first page until the final page. They will experience the story as it unfolds rather than being told what is happening. My goal is to always leave readers wanting more and keep turning pages.

If you haven't read THE DREAM THAT DIDN'T DIE & SAVING GRACE, you can read both for FREE if you are a Kindle Unlimited subscriber! I highly recommend reading both before reading FINDING GRACE but you can read FINDING GRACE as a standalone but it will be far more meaningful if you get the whole story instead of picking up midway into the series. (And hint...there might be more of this story to tell beyond FINDING GRACE...so stay tuned for more on that later.)

On the Lantern Ridge front:

FOR THE KIDDOS IN YOUR LIFE: The Lantern Ridge Series has 3 BRAND NEW books just in time for the holiday season.

For Halloween: The Case of the Glowing Pumpkin

For Thanksgiving: The Case of the Missing Thankful Tree

For Christmas: The Case of the Lost Christmas Letter

Each story follows the Lantern Kids as they solve mysteries in their hometown of Lantern Ridge. Written for readers ages 7–10, the series celebrates friendship, problem-solving, teamwork, and the importance of gratitude, kindness, and finding joy in everyday moments, especially during the holidays. Each book features a complete standalone mystery, making it easy for young readers to enjoy the adventures in any order. Available through my website, Amazon, or wherever books are sold.

Now moving on to probably my biggest reveal of the year & it happens to be my final release for 2026! Yes, I have written a CHRISTMAS novel and I am so beyond excited about this book!

To say that I poured my heart and soul into this book is an understatement! Of course, I do that with all of my books, but Christmas and the holidays have always been my favorite time of year. So, when I tell you that the idea that I had for this book just came to me out of the blue one day, that is no exaggeration.

It was a Spring day and I was driving back from grabbing a coffee (a bad habit that I can't seem to break!). Out of nowhere the title for the book came to mind. By the time I got home the story had started forming in my brain and I couldn't get to my computer fast enough. I spent the rest of that day and the next couple of weeks getting the story out. It just flowed once I sat down and started writing. Before I knew it I had the whole novel from start to finish. The crazy thing is I was NOT thinking about writing a Christmas novel in the Spring and not at the moment because I had so many other stories I was working on simultaneously at the time. But much like The Hauntings of Sarah Caine, this story decided it needed to be told and waiting was not an option.

So without further ado, I present to you the cover reveal for my Christmas novel entitled, A WISHBOOK CHRISTMAS!!

Set in the small town of Pinehaven Falls, North Carolina, A Wishbook Christmas follows Hannah Dalton, a designer hired to renovate Whitaker’s, a long-shuttered hometown store that developer Luke Livingston intends to flip. At first, Whitaker’s is simply another project. But when Hannah and Luke uncover an old Christmas Wishbook inside the store, the renovation begins taking an unexpected turn. The deeper they look into Whitaker’s past, the more they discover about the store that generations of Pinehaven Falls families once loved and the Christmas traditions that disappeared when its doors closed. Soon, Whitaker’s becomes about far more than renovating an old building and putting it back on the market. The Wishbook holds something else, a connection to a Christmas nearly fifty years ago that Hannah and Luke never expected to find.

This special Christmas story is for anyone who still longs for the Christmases of years gone by.

It’s for those who remember the excitement of waiting for the annual Wish Book to arrive, turning page after page filled with toys, circling favorites, folding down corners, and hoping that somehow everything you wished for might be waiting beneath the tree on Christmas morning. There was something wonderfully simple about the joy of a Wish Book. Long before online shopping and packages arriving at our doors, that catalog could keep a child dreaming for hours. And when it finally arrived each year, Christmas suddenly felt a little closer.

A Wishbook Christmas captures that feeling, but it also celebrates so many of the other traditions and memories that made Christmas special: decorated storefronts, toy trains, peppermint sticks, Christmas trees and twinkling lights, church cantatas, family gatherings, small-town celebrations, and the anticipation that seemed to make the entire season feel magical.

If you’ve ever wished you could step back into those Christmases for just a little while, I hope you’ll come to Pinehaven Falls and experience one with Hannah and Luke.

A WISHBOOK CHRISTMAS
